STSM on MFC electrode material nano-modification using laser deposition

Improved materials

The main aim of the Short-Term Scientific Mission (STSM) was exchange knowledge and strengthen the collaboration between the University of Southampton and the Technical University of Liberec in the field of microbial fuel cells (MFCs). This purpose of knowledge, ideas, and skills transfer between researchers from Southampton and TUL has been achieved to a great extent. Modified electrode materials have been produced as a result of laser deposition and state-of-the-art MFCs have been successfully setup at the TUL labs, for real-time testing of newly developed laser-modified materials. As a direct result of this STSM, there is now joint ongoing work in the two partner labs, with a longer-term collaboration strategy.
